Jon Thomas
Jon Thomas' career began 45
years ago as a funeral director and embalmer in Ft. Lauderdale,
Florida. At age 25, he built Jordan-Thomas Funeral Home, which had
grown to more than 400 calls when he sold it nine years later to
take a position as vice-president in charge of marketing & acquisitions
for Case Holdings, a position he held for seven years.
A taste for acquisitions led
him into Cem-A-Care, an entrepreneurial venture that bought or built
11 cemeteries, 10 funeral homes, and 2 crematories. During his seven
years as President/CEO, he was responsible for acquisitions, construction
of cemeteries & funeral homes, and for preneed sales.
Elected to the Florida House
of Representatives in 1970, re-elected in 1972, and then elected
to the Florida State Senate in 1974, he served as Chairman of the
Health & Rehabilitative Services Committee, Broward County Legislative
Delegation, and served on the Appropriations and Commerce Committees.
Since 1986, he has focused on Thomas-Pierce
& Company, a team of industry professionals providing succession-planning
services to cemetery and funeral home owners. His 8 years as an
elected official and 45 years in the death care industry have given
him unparalleled negotiation skills and expertise in funeral home
and cemetery valuation, sales, and acquisitions.
